- Melinda Baerwald coauthor of “Survival and reproduction of Myxobolus cerebralis-resistant rainbow trout introduced to the Colorado River and increased resistance of age-0 progeny” in PLOS One
- Andrea Schreier, Brian Mahardja, & Bernie May won the Best Paper Award for 2013 in the Transactions of the American Fisheries Society for their paper entitled “Patterns of Population Structure Vary Across the Range of the White Sturgeon“.
- Ermias Kebreab receives funding from Brazil (funded by FAPESP; PI: Dr Nilva Sakomura) for “Development of models of genetic potential for growth, reproduction and production of eggs for prediction of amino acid requirements”
- Pablo Ross and Marcela Villarino received a BD Biosciences Stem Cell Research Grant for “Induction of Pluripotency by CRISPER-Cas9 Epigenetic Engineering”
OUTREACH AND TRAVEL
- Many departmental grad students attended the Calif Grain & Feed annual California Animal Nutrition Conference (CANC) held in Fresno. Gabriela Acetoze won the scholarship & presented her PhD research; Katie Kennedy won 1st place, Grace Cun won 2nd place (a Fresno State M.S. student who presented her project jointly done with Peter Robinson), & Samantha Werth won 3rd place in the poster competition
- Alison Van Eenennaam spoke at the Food & Agriculture National Conference in Minneapolis on a panel addressing “Assessing the Changing Landscape of Genetically Engineered Crops and Foods”
- Frank Mitloehner in Woods Hole, MA attending the Committee on a Framework for Assessing the Health & Environmental, and Social Effects of the Food and Fiber System
- Cass Tucker giving talk at the Knowledge Centre for Agriculture in Denmark
