OUTREACH AND TRAVEL
- Kelsi Snook, Allen Pettey, & Aaron Prinz attended the California Collegiate Livestock Show at the Porterville Fairgrounds. Kelsi exhibited two crossbred hogs: one barrow and one gilt. The gilt won her class and the barrow finished second in his class. Kelsi also finished third in advanced showmanship!
- Emma Martinez, Katherine Livingston, & Kathryn Jackson attended the 2016 UC Davis Advising Conference; Emma served on the logistics & registration efforts and Katherine assisted day of; Kathryn presented “Self-Care Through Art,” & “Academic Integration Practices for Study Abroad Coursework.”
- The University of Ghent – Belgium made their annual visit to the department. Ed DePeters, Doug Gisi, Aaron Prinz & Dan Sehnert spoke to the group.
- Yanhong Liu attended the 2016 ASAS Midwestern Section and ADSA Midwest Branch Meeting and presented “Amino acid digestibility in dairy proteins compared with plant proteins” and “Effects of phytase on growth performance and metacarpal bone ash in weanling pigs” and “Xylanase responses on apparent ileal digestibility of nutrients, fiber and energy in growing pigs fed corn, 30% corn co-products and soybean meal based diets as influenced by microbial phytase and acclimatization period”
- The San Joaquin FARMS Program visited the Goat Facility Thursday March 17th. Rachel Conway spoke on goat production & Dan Sehnert introduced the Animal Science major at UCD.
